There is only one version of the program to download. It is compatible with Windows 7, 8, Vista, 10 and 11 (32 and 64 bit versions).
If you purchase a registration key you can unlock some extra features, but all the core features of the program
are available without purchasing a key:
Please also remember that you can try the program out free of charge for as long as you like before you decide to register!
Fixes a bug which meant the tone question module kept presenting the same ten or so questions for new users. The program now loads from the complete set of 2,600 questions.
Dictionary search now has no limitations in the unregistered version.
The program now automatically applies tone change rules during the vocab test instead of relying on the pinyin.
The program gives a visual alert when a new version is available.
Changed the default font to FangSong. Changed the default behaviour for indicating which grading button to press to NOT moving the mouse.
中文版本到了！ Yes, as of this version you can choose Chinese with simplified characters as an interface language option!
Tidied up the retest buttons on the Vocab test form. Fixed a bug with retests which meant the answer was being marked as wrong when the question contained extra punctuation which didn't match the answer given.
More keyboard shortcuts. More dynamic highlighting to make the interface more intuitive.
I have changed some of the windows layouts to make them workable with a wider range of screen resolutions. All the principal windows can now be sized down to 900 * 700 pixels and still be fully functional.
The program now automatically detects corrupted XML files and replaces them automatically from back-up. Chinese text in the vertical title bars appears vertically, as is more natural.
Bug fix with detection of running version.
The program is now fully integrated with the online help manual. Press F1 on any screen in the program to navigate to the appropriate Help topic.
Fully revised the Spanish translation. Added Zoom function to the menu.
Changed the "Success" sound on completion of a goal. Improved the text sizing on the Match Panel.
Re-thought the flow of the tone test module. Now it prompts you to finish testing when you hit your daily goal. Also included all the daily goals as configurable parameters in the Options form
and included an acoustic alert and visual effect on completing any goal.
Streamlined getting started wizard.
Fixes bug with vocab pack download.
Made the main grid orderable by whether or not highlighted, making it easy to find highlighted items. Improved the algorithm for the zip backups. Introduced a new stat: Characters by number of instances.
Tidied up the freehand dictionary search form. Added a match panel.
Tidied up the Categories form.
I have switched from having a data folder with a configurable back-up location to having a single, configurable data location which can be set
to somewhere in the "cloud". If you previously had a back-up folder configured this will become the new main data folder. Otherwise it will remain in its
default location in My Documents.
Updated some of the icons to give them a more consistent theme.
Fixed a bug in the stats calendar which meant it wasn't showing time spent for days where testing took place in a different time zone.
Various small bug fixes including an error message when undoing a test answer.
I have fixed it so links in the dictionary now open with a single click (before it took two, the first click to select the row and the second one to activate the link).
The program has been ported from Windows Forms to Windows Presentation Foundation in order to provide an interface which is more user-friendly on modern devices such as tablets.
It also involves a number of new features such as Character Testing, Tone Testing developed from the popular Mǎ or Mà website and the Stats Module.
